Description

North German Hand and a Half cut and thrust sword 1520-1550. The single fullered blade is fitted with scent bottle style grip. It retains the original pigskin wrapping which covers a braided cord finishing with a long steel pommel. The cross and counter guard are typically North German. The blade and hilt has medium to light pitting suggesting the sword was possibly kept exposed to corrosive vapours from heating fires in castles. No markings are found on the blade. All in all a very lovely Bastard sword to suit any collection. Length of blade: 880mm x 27mm.
Length of hilt: 196mm x 194mm cross guard. Lengths O/H 1074mm
